The deodorant dilemma

Lets face it our deodorant isn’t good!!!
A lot of it has aluminum in it with has been linked to things like breast cancer and Alzheimer’s. If it doesn’t have that it has other chemicals. Like, parabens which has been shown to cause hormone imbalance, Triclosan which is a known pesticide or Propylene glycol which can cause damage in cells especially cells in the central nervous system and the liver. Added to the dyes most deodorants have, I am sorry but the bright blue color of my last store bought deodorant is NOT a color that is found in nature. And we are putting this stuff in our armpits, every day, which is some of the thinnest skin in our bodies, with some of the most pores and which most of us shave often, causing irritation and cuts.
But there is a better way. If an all natural deodorant exists and it works for you, I say go for it. I am a fan of the deodorant crystals myself, they roll on easily and if you apply it a few times a day most people seem to really enjoy it. My rule of thumb is to try a few, but read the backs, just like with food, and if you can’t pronounce the word you probably don’t want it hanging out in your armpit all day.

I personally enjoy making your own! My easily little recipe is this: take equal parts coconut oil (in its solid form), baking soda and either arrow root or GMO free corn starch and mix it with about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix it up and presto you have a great deodorant. you can then either put it in a container to rub on with your finger or try and put it in an old deodorant container. Its quick, easy and now you know what you are putting in your arm pits!
